 Driver Eligibility and Entry Requirements

1. Drivers must have and present, upon request, a valid state driver’s license.

2. No one under 18 years of age may be in the pit or participate as a driver.

3. Metric Class will be 1980 model and later cars only. 

4. Members of the Lawrenceburg Rotary Club are not eligible to drive, own or sponsor derby entries.

5. Entries are taken on a first come, first served basis. Entry fee must be paid upon arrival. Entry fees are non-refundable.

6. There will be 30 slots available, additional may be added day of show.

7. Entry fee is $50.00 and includes two (2) pit passes. Additional pit passes may be purchased for $20.00 each. Due to insurance regulations, no one under 16 years of age is permitted in the pit area.

8. Driver may enter more than one car but can advance only one car to the feature.

9. Each driver, each member of the driver's pit crew, and each person purchasing entry into pit and/or controlled area must sign a waiver relieving the Lawrenceburg Rotary Club and the Middle Tennessee District Fair, and any other partnering entities of any liability arising out of any act or omission regarding the event.

10. Cars must be removed from the fairgrounds by noon on the day following the derby. Cars not removed by this time become the property of the Lawrenceburg Rotary Club and will be removed at entrants’ expense.

11.. Heats will be assigned by drawing when the car clears technical inspection.

12. A mandatory drivers’ meeting will be held at 6:15 pm each event night at a location to be announced. Any late rule changes or additions will be covered at this meeting.   

                                                                                                                                          

 

Vehicle Requirements Metric Rules

GENERAL RULES

  1. Inspector and all judges decisions are final                  
  2. Cars can only be %50 black
  3. All cars get 4- 4x4x1/4” plates. Plates not to be used for driveline kicker.
  4. Any American made passenger car or station wagon. No imperials, hearses, or trucks. 03 and up Fords must have factory aluminum cradle AND functional factory rack and pinion steering.
  5. 80s up only, no old iron.
  6. All glass, interior seating, headlights, and tail lights must be removed.
  7. Front windshield bar is recommended for safety. 2” wide x ¼” thick metal strap or chain. Connected to roof and to each side of distributor at firewall.
  8. Battery must be relocated to passenger compartment of car.
  9. Car must have working brakes and functional seatbelt.
  10. Rear window bar allowed. Can be attached to roof and can have only 2” max area welded to trunk lid. Ex. If your using 2x2 square tubing, 2” can be welded to trunk lid and 2” be welded to speaker deck. Back window bar can’t be attached to cage or frame.
  11. Stock gas tanks must be removed from original location. An aftermarket fuel cell or boat tank is highly recommended. Electric fuel pumps are ok.

 

MODEL SPECIFIC RULES

  1. METRIC CARS are allowed 6”x22”x1/4” thick hump plate. Can be contoured or strait. Must be on wheel side of humps. Also metric cars can be tilted by cutting flap at crush box or v notch at crossmember. 8”x3” tall max spacer at core support.

BODY

  1. No doubling of body panels or welding of body seams allowed.
  2. No added metal. Rust repair on fresh cars must be pre approved with pics.
  3. Body creasing is allowed.
  4. Fenders may be bolted with 5- 3/8” bolts per fender.
  5. Doors may be chained, wired, or welded. 6” on 6” off when welded.
  6. Drivers door may be welded solid and may have plate on outside for drivers safety.
  7. No creasing, doubling or welding on transmission tunnel.

BODY MOUNTS

  1. 5/8” max diameter body bolts. Washer and nuts on body bolts must be inside frame and not on bottom side of frame covering frame hole opening.
  2. Factory body bushings OR 1” thick x 3” max spacers allowed.
  3. No body mounts may be attached to any part of cage.
  4. Core support may have up to 1” diameter all thread.
  5. Trunk area may have up to 1” all thread in 2 locations only.
  6. You can add up to 4 body mounts, ½” diameter max. Added bolt can be welded to frame with 4” continuous weld only. May change direction but can’t be wrapped around or bent over frame.

CORE SUPPORT AND RADIATOR

  1. Do not move core support. Core support mount must stay in factory location.
  2. Any automotive radiator may be used. No homemade radiators.
  3. Radiators must be in stock location.
  4. Electric fans are ok.
  5. Factory condenser or 32” wide expanded metal/mesh welded on radiator support only to protect radiator.

SUSPENSION

  1. Tie rods must have factory appearing ends.
  2. A-arms can be welded down using 2 pieces of 2”x3”x1/4” strapping per a-arm(1 front and 1 rear) No other welding on a-arm.
  3. No aftermarket spindles.
  4. Replacement or aftermarket ball joints are ok.
  5. No all thread shocks in front.

HOODS

  1. Hoods must have hole cut over top of carb. May have up to 10- 3/8” bolts around hood cutout.
  2. 6 attachment points max in hood. 2 in core support up to 1” diameter and 4 other spots are ½” max diameter.
  3. All thread at core support can’t be sleeved, spacer must stop at bottom side of core support. Spacer can be welded to frame mount OR core support, not both.

SAFETY CAGES

  1. 4 point safety cage is required.
  2. Cage material can be up to 4” pipe or square tubing or up to 6”x2” tubing max.
  3. Must have 4” gap from dash bar to firewall. Also must have 4” gap minimum from dash bar to transmission tunnel. Abuse this rule and get loaded.
  4. Cage welded to sheet metal only, not frame.
  5. Gas tank protector 24” wide max. Gas tank protector can’t be connected to back window bar.
  6. Roll over bars are suggested. Roll over bar can’t be attached to frame.
  7. Roll over bar can be attached to roof sheet metal in 3 places max.
  8. Cage can have up to 4 down bars (2 per side) welded vertical to sheet metal only, at or behind dash bar

TRUNKS

  1. Trunks can be welded 6 on 6 off with 4” wide ¼” thick max strap.
  2. Trunks can be creased or pre-bent. No wedged trunks.
  3. For inspection purposes, trunk lid must have 2- 6”holes.
  4. 4 bolts per hole to secure inner and outer trunk skin.
  5. 2 pcs of up to 1” max all-thread may extend through trunk lid.

FRAMES

  1. Any reinforcing of frame will result in automatic disqualification. No welding, plating or reinforcing of any part of frame.
  2. All factory frame holes must be left open.
  3. Rear frame rails can’t be shortened.
  4. No air hammering or frame shaping on any part of frame.

BUMPERS

  1. Bumpers may be hardnosed. (2) 3x6x1/4" plates per frame rail to aid in mounting bumper. You can also use 6" long bumper shock, must attach to frame.
  2. Bumpers can be loaded. Homemade bumpers must have equal or less of a point than Chrysler Pointy.
  3. Bumpers can be no higher than 28” from ground to top of bumper or lower than 14” from ground to bottom of bumper.

ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

  1. No distributor protectors allowed.
  2. Carb protector can’t extend past center line of carb.
  3. Mid plate can be no taller than 1” above bellhousing bolts.
  4. Aftermarket motor mounts are ok.
  5. Transmission and oil coolers are ok.
  6. Pulley protector and Sway Bar is ok but cant touch.
  7. Oem or 2x2 max crossmember side. Single crossmember only.
  8. 3”x3” angle 6” long may be used to mount crossmember. 2 pcs total, 1 per side.
  9. Steel bell, steel tail, and transmission braces are ok.

REAR END AND TIRES

  1. Any automotive or aftermarket rear end allowed.
  2. Ztr style conversion brackets are ok, after market trailing arms allowed.
  3. Slider driveshafts are ok.
  4. 5 spring clamps per side on leaf spring cars. 8 leaf max.
  5. No converting coil spring cars to leaf spring.
  6. May chain rear end. 2 links max welded to frame.
  7. All thread shocks may be used to adjust rear ride height but must attach to rear end with single bolt. Single nut to attach to top of package tray only, no nut on bottom of package tray.

*If it’s not covered in these rules, that does not mean it’s legal. Save yourself time and call.  On pre ran cars, any re-stubbing, sheet metal patching or ride height issues  must be pre approved.

Vehicle Requirements, STOCK RULES

The year model of stock car allowed will be show specific and will be addressed by promotor. Note: Any model year may be run at the Crossroads Clash. No hearses, Imperials or Imperial sub frame allowed. 03up Fords, Lincoln, and Mercury must utilize factory aluminum cradle and oem rack and pinion steering. 98up Ford, Lincoln, and Mercury may use Watts conversion brackets.


BODY
- Creasing only on quarters and fenders. Quarters must remain uprightT. runk must have 10” hole for inspection purposes. Hood must be open during inspection and have 10” hole over engine for fire safety.
- Firewall can be cut for clearance. You can remove but can’t add.
- Drivers door can be welded 12” on vertical seams. All other doors to be secured with 3 points of chain or wire. No washers welded on for wire to pass through. Door wire can’t go around frame.
- Hood and trunk can be secured with up to 6 points of wire or chain only.
- No Spray foam allowed


FRAME/BUMPER

- Bumpers may be loaded inside envelope of factory bumper. No homemade bumpers.
- Bumpers can be welded strait to frame. Bumper shock must be oem to make and model.
- Factory bumper bracket can be used but no welding on frame more than 4” from back of bumper.
- Max shortening of frame is 1” in front of core support mount.
- NO HUMP PLATES ALLOWED ON ANY VEHICLE
- No other welding on frame other than what is listed in rules. Any illegal alterations to frame will result in disqualification.
- No tilting or pitching frames. No frame shaping.
- Factory crossmembers only. 3x3 angle 6” long may be used to mount crossmember.
- No painted frames. If frame is painted, you will not be allowed to run.
- Pre-run cars will be allowed up to (2) 4x4x1/4” patch plates on VISIBLE BENDS only. If you have a patch plate on un bent frame, you will completely remove plate.

DRIVETRAIN
- Lower cradle only on engine. Absolutely no other protectors. No mid plates, steel bells, steel tails, transmission protectors, or pulley protectors.
- Slider shafts are allowed.
- Motor swaps allowed. Ex. Chevy motor in Ford or Chrysler.
- 5 or 8 lug rear ends only. No excessive bracing.

BODY MOUNTS-

Core support can have up to 2 threaded rods ½” max diameter and can extend through hood. This will count as 2 of the 6 hood attachment points.

All other body mount to remain stock, do not touch them. No added body mounts.
- If body bolt is broken, only repair option is on single wrap of #9 wire.- One spot per rail in rear may have added chain or wire to help keep body on frame. 2 points total.

SUSPENSION
- No solid suspension. Front and back must have adequate travel up and down.
- Spring spacers are allowed
- Coil spring cars can use #9 wire or chain from rear humps to rear axle, no welding on frame. Stock oem trailing arms only, no square tubing.
- Factory leaf spring cars must use factory oem leaf packs and get up to 4 single strands, per leaf, of #9 wire as clamps.
- No leaf spring conversion.
- No aftermarket ball joints or tie rods.
- No bead lock wheels.


DRIVERS COMPARTMENT
- Aftermarket shifter, gas pedal, brake pedal, steering column, and transmission cooler allowed but must not strengthen car in anyway.
- 4-point cage allowed, 4”x4” max tubing. Cage must be 6” from floor, transmission tunnel, and firewall. Side bars can’t extend past front door seams and max length 60”
- Rollover bar allowed but can’t attach to roof.
- Gas tank mount / protection must be 4” from rear package tray.
- Gas tank and battery must be relocated to driver compartment.

**This is a very simple set of rules. If you spend more than a week on this build, you’ve more than likely over built. Don’t look for gray areas and don’t get creative, call with questions to save on arguing during inspection.
